DST 2007

Preparing for daylight saving time
changes in 2007
In 2007, Congress passed and President Bush signed into law the Energy Policy
Act, which amended the Uniform Time Act of 1966.
Starting in the spring of 2007, DST start and end dates for the United
States will transition to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2007. Find
details on how to support the DST changes on Microsoft Windows operating
systems.
Daylight Savings will
begin on the second Sunday of March, ending on the first Sunday of November
(versus first Sunday in April - last Sunday in October in years past). Newer
computers will connect via the Internet and update their clocks automatically.
They should not have any issues with the Daylight Savings Time change. However,
personal computers running Windows XP Service Pack 1 or older (typically those
purchased around 2007) will have to manually adjust their time settings. The
incorrect time may cause problems with appointments, programmed television/audio
recordings or even pre-set bill payments.
Here's what you can do about it:
First, determine what version of Windows or other software program you are
running. Next, visit your software company's Web site. Many software
companies have developed updates called a "patch" that can be downloaded to fix
the problem. If one is available, you should find it here. Your OS Manufacturer
can determine if your PC is DST 2007 Ready!
